OCBC National TTT 2021
Two years since my last Ironman race.
I went into this race with a little trepidation. Not because I had no confidence in my team mates but more because we were in the Open Category of the Quad Men’s TTT which is an age group that has youths of 19 and above and we had only two training sessions before the race.
Donning on the Integrated Riding jersey and representing the colours that come with it helped fuel the motivation and drive albeit the higher level of expectations to do well. Just what the team needed to push ourselves to a respectable position.
Thanks to @Doug for his power analysis chart to guide us on our pacing, and of course, the power of @Alex, we managed to achieve 4th place with 3 riders above 45 years of age and one at 34 years.
Quite a fun outing , and happy with the result. But more importantly, we are glad to be racing again and enjoying the camaraderie of my teammates. Though it is only one discipline instead of the usual 3 combo of Swim, Bike, Run. But who cares. It’s racing again!
Great to see all the competitors and though there were no spectators, the atmosphere did bring back some sanity of all the training.
Thanks to @SingaporeCyclingFederation for putting up such a well-organised event.
Tomorrow is back to the grind…but this time with a little more drive, motivation and a renewed hope of being at the start line of a triathlon race
